Winter is around the corner, which means it’s pretty chilly outside. While this weather can be uncomfortable and ruin a swing or two, many golfers still want to play their favorite sport even as the temperatures drop. Lucky for you, we here at Dever Golf Car Sales know a thing or two about golfing any time, anywhere. We’ve put together some tips for golfing in cold weather below, and if you have any questions, contact our stores in Kentucky today!

Keep Moving

Momentum is a big component of keeping your game up when golfing in the cold. Making sure your blood keeps pumping and you keep your limbs moving. This activity will help stave off the chills, keeping you limber and spry.

The Right Clothes

Obviously, it’s important to wear the right gear. Your typical golf outfit isn’t going to do much to protect you from icy wind or lingering snow, so make sure you’re properly equipped. Some suggestions include:

  • Wet-weather gloves to keep your hands dry and warm. The right gloves will get improved grip as they get more damp, helping to improve your grip.
  • A thin but warm base layer to insulate you without hampering your movement. Synthetic fabrics will do well here.
  • A thicker outer coat, preferably waterproof, to prevent you from losing core heat or getting wet. Make sure it’s easy to move around in.
  • Thermal socks or multiple pairs of socks to keep your feet warm. You won’t need too much agility here, for your golf game, so feel free to layer up.

The Right Gear

You’ll also need to make some minor adjustments to the gear you use. The temperature and damp climate can make your typical gear less effective at best, and can ruin it at worst. Bring along things like:

  • A high-vis yellow golf ball will remain visible even if it ends up stuck in a snow drift or in an icy water hazard, making it easier to find and recover.
  • An umbrella seems obvious, but it can make a difference if and when it starts to rain or snow. Make sure it’s one that can cover and protect your bag while you’re taking a shot.
  • A golf cart heater is a gadget you can place in your golf cart to heat the area. Having that sanctuary while you’re on the fairway can make a world of difference.

We hope these tips help you stay on par and keep your game up! If you have any questions about golfing or golf carts, or you’d like to see the golf carts we have for sale, contact Dever Golf Car Sales. We proudly serve the cities of Lexington and Louisville, KY.
